digital gardening

digital gardening

I was introduced to this concept by a video by Struthless on Youtube but I have circled around the concept for a while - using Roam and Obsidian and learning about a zettlekasten system. He was talking about responses we can take to AI Brainrot and gradual disempowerment. I am feeling that in my brain.

I think the wandering nature of a digital garden is more appealing to me - it can become overgrown and unruly, but a bit of time and attention will bring it back to something resembling a garden. A zettlekasten system is more rigid and structured. Understandable given it's origins in academia, but I find it interesting that there was no mention of the digital garden concept when I was learning about zettlekasten. I have seen more than one reference to zettlekasten while learning about digital gardens. Academic snobbery maybe? A gender bias on the originators of each conceptualisation?
